Here is this week’s schedule: February 6th-10th.

Monday: Math: Look for extra Math Practice sheets to go home today. We started Topic 9-Patterns on Friday, February 3rd. The test will be this Friday, February 10th. This Topic is a review of what the children already had and should know. More information will be coming a later date. Remember to check homework on-line daily.

Religion: Mrs. Stock’s class: Look for Chapter 7- Take Home Page-to go home today.

Social Studies: Inquiry Based Unit- Father Larry came to visit First Grade on Wednesday, February 1st. He talked about Service: He explained that Service is a job or work. He defined Service as helping someone. Father Larry assigned the children homework. Did they tell you all about it? Father Larry wanted to know, What is the most Rewarding thing about your job? He wanted about two to three sentences in the child’s own handwriting. Father Larry wanted to know what both Dad and Mom’s job is. This will be part of our Community project. It fits in nicely with Catholic Schools Week. The theme for this years Catholic Schools Week: Faith, Academics, and Service. Father Larry’s homework is due on Thursday, February 9th. I will be taking a grade on this assignment. Please make sure your assignment is handed in on time. Thank you.

Tuesday: Math: Bring home your Math Practice book and do pages 53 and 54. Tear out the page and put it in your Red Hot News folder and return the book the next day, Wednesday, February 7th.

Reading Test: What Bug Is It?

Wednesday: Social Studies: Inquiry Based Unit: Communities: Take a picture at your favorite establishment. This assignment is part of the brochure that first grade is putting together.

Spelling Test

Thursday: Math: Bring home your Math Practice book and do pages 55 and 56. Tear out the page and put it in your Red Hot News folder and return the book the next day, Friday, February 10th.

Friday: Math test today. Topic 9-Patterns.

This week we move from government to understanding our nation’s economy.  We will learn of the four economies of the world and the charateristics of our own economy.  We will learn of the pluses and minuses of the sole proprietorship and partnership.  We will also discover how and why corporations are set up and how they function.  Chapter vocabulary will be due Tuesday, February 14.
