1st Grade: Mrs. Stock

I hope all of you had a restful and safe long weekend.

Math: On Friday, I sent home extra Math sheets. These sheets are to reinforce what we have been learning in class. I explained to the children that please do not do the packet in one night. Your child should spend about 20 minutes a night reviewing and doing the packet. This packet is to prepare your child for the upcoming test. Topic 1 test will be Thursday, September 9th. The packet does not need to be returned to school. Look for more information about the test tomorrow, September 8th. Bring home your Math Practice book and do pages 3 and 4. Tear out the page and put it in your Red Hot News folder and return the book the next day, Wednesday, September 8th. Please do not go ahead.

Religion: Mrs. Stock’s class only: We will be having a test on Chapter 1, Friday, September 10th. More information to follow at a later date.

Other Information: Mrs. Stock’s class only: Traffic lights will be going home today. Parents: Please sign the traffice light at the end of the week and return on Monday. Parents: Mrs. Stock’s class: We are looking for two people to coordinate the Best Buddy Program. Our Best Buddies are the elderly at Alvernia Manor. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested. Thank you in advance for your help. Just a reminder: You must have Virtus Training to participate in this program, to go on fieldtrips, and attend classroom parties.

Reading (both classes): Please complete reading found in red hot news folder. Look for at family words & write them on the back of the short vowel a worksheet.

You only need to return the short vowel worksheet. The story can stay home.

1V News: Please remind your child how important it is to be quiet and listen to all directions from teachers. On a whole we had a rough day today with talking and need to work on our listening skills. Please reinforce at home how important it is to listen and follow directions for their own safety. Thank You! I apologize for the late post. Have a good evening.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the new school year 2010-2011! We are looking forward to a wonderful year. Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 1st, is Opening Mass. The children are to wear their school uniforms tomorrow, instead of their gym uniforms.

Religion: This year we have new Religion books. Before beginning each chapter, you will be receiving a take home page. This is to inform you what your child will be learning, and you can reinforce what has been learned in class. Please review prayers with your child. The prayers are: The Lord’s Prayer, Hail Mary, Glory Be to the Father, Angel of God, Grace Before Meals, and the Sign of the Cross.

Other Information:

In First Grade, we have the Best Buddy program. This is a community service project where we will be working with residents from Alvernia Manor.  Alvernia Manor is a Retirement home located in Lemont. Through out the year the first graders will be making crafts and visiting their Buddies. I need your help! I am looking for two people to coordinate the Best Buddy Program. I will explain more about this program at tomorrow’s Parent Night.

See you tomorrow, September 1st, for Parent Night. Please meet in the church at 6:30 pm.
